Rachel Silva
Abstract Expressionism | Mixed Media | Round Rock, TX
Rachel Silva’s work is an exploration of emotion, impermanence, and the raw spontaneity of the human experience. Through abstract expressionism, she embraces the unpredictable while allowing intuition to guide each movement, each layer of paint, until the piece reveals its own truth.
Art has been her way of navigating grief, self-discovery, and transformation. Music is an essential part of her process. Most of Rachel’s paintings are named after a song, reflecting the emotions and energy that shape its creation. The rhythm, lyrics, and atmosphere of a piece of music influence her movement, often dictating the intensity or stillness within the composition. Alongside music, texture plays a vital role in her work as well—thick layers of paint, scratches, and unpredictable surfaces add depth, mirroring the layers of human experience. To Rachel, every painting is a conversation, sometimes unresolved until time and perspective bring clarity.
Every work she creates carries a part of her, and while selling a piece is a moment of release, it is never without meaning. Her goal is not only to express but to connect, to evoke emotion in others, to remind them of their own depths, and to create something that resonates beyond the canvas.
Rachel Silva is a self-taught abstract expressionist whose work explores emotion, memory, and the healing power of texture and sound. Guided by intuition and inspired by music, she uses her hands, palette knives, and unconventional tools to create deeply layered pieces that reflect personal transformation and raw human experience. She began painting in the wake of loss, discovering a language beyond words—one that allowed her to process grief and reconnect with herself. Since then, her art has found homes across the United States, been featured in multiple publications, and exhibited in numerous shows throughout Central Texas.
